Discover the Whistler's Local Culture
Whistler is a haven for artists of all types with all mediums who find inspiration from the beauty of the mountains. In Whistler, you will find art galleries, photo galleries, museums, a Farmer’s Market weekly with artisans, and a large number of public art installations throughout the village and the entire town.
Whistler also boasts the Squamish Lil’Wait Cultural Centre which celebrates two nations working together – the Sk̲wxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation, Coast Salish) and Líl̓wat7ul (Lil’wat Nation, Interior Salish) Nations came together and designed a stunning building in the Upper Village that is open to the public. The gift shop in this building is not to be missed!
Whistler’s newest addition to the arts scene is The Audain Art Museum, which houses Canada’s largest Emily Carr collection of works as well as a strong contingency of nineteenth-century Northwest Coast masks. Here is the link to Whistler’s Art Gallery self-guided walk, or you can drop by the Whistler Visitor Centre or any Village Host kiosk to grab a printed copy onsite.
